Happy Christmas Eve to one and all! The Christmas holidays are now in full swing – hurray! To say ‘Happy Christmas’ and thank you to our neighbours for being what feels like our own parcel receiving service, myself and Mr Birdie decided some brownies would be a thoughtful gift. Mr Birdie suggested making some brownies with Roses or Quality Street however I decided to veto this in favour of these chocolate orange brownies as to me a Terry’s Chocolate Orange is also very Christmassy. They were well received and will hopefully be enjoyed over the next few days. This is a Jane’s Patisserie recipe. I’ve been following her for quite a while on Twitter and Instagram and would highly recommend checking out her recipes as they look delicious!

Spiced chocolate and orange hot cross buns

Happy Easter one and all. I hope you are enjoying the extended weekend by spending it with friends and family, eating many chocolate eggs and indulging in one or two hot cross buns whilst managing to avoid the hideous weather that seems to have descended on us. I’d never made hot cross buns before making these. In my eyes no-one can beat my Dad’s so I was a little nervous giving these a go. I’d seen this Delicious Magazine recipe last year and saved it to my Easter Pinterest board. Last weekend, I decided I fancied doing a little Easter inspired baking and decided to give them a go.

Terry’s Chocolate Orange Cheesecake

First of all apologies for the photos in this post. They were taken with my mobile phone as I was at home in North Devon without Mr Birdie’s DSLR and they’ve not turned out the best. Anyway, on with the recipe! To me a Terry’s chocolate orange says Christmas. The smell, the taste, the packaging make me think of this time of year. I made this as a dessert for Christmas day lunch. It’s a recipe from a blog called What Jessica Baked Next that I follow that you can find here. I saw it back it in November and mentally filed it away as a possible Christmas day dessert.
