Terry’s Chocolate Orange Cheesecake

First of all apologies for the photos in this post. They were taken with my mobile phone as I was at home in North Devon without Mr Birdie’s DSLR and they’ve not turned out the best. Anyway, on with the recipe! To me a Terry’s chocolate orange says Christmas. The smell, the taste, the packaging make me think of this time of year. I made this as a dessert for Christmas day lunch. It’s a recipe from a blog called What Jessica Baked Next that I follow that you can find here. I saw it back it in November and mentally filed it away as a possible Christmas day dessert.

Christmas Yule Log

DSC_0479

This recipe was inspired by my dad who spotted a photo of a rather impressive yule log on Twitter and sent me the link to it. I’ve never made a yule log before so decided this was the year to give it a go. There are a whole host of recipes on the Internet but I decided to go for this Nigella recipe as it had good reviews.

Lemon Drizzle Bundt Cake

SONY DSC

I was given a Nordicware Bundt tin back in August for my birthday by my Dad and have only just got round to using it for the first tin – shocking I know! Following on from my previous post I have been on a bit of a cookie making mission recently. I made these last weekend as we were off to visit our friends Simon and Louisa who have recently welcomed baby Esme to their family. I thought they might be in need of a sweet treat to keep them going so decided to give these a go. I have made lots of other oat and raisin cookies before and they are a particular favourite of Mr Birdie. My favourite recipe is this Hummingbird Bakery recipe. This recipe is a Jo Wheatley one from her Home Baking book. I have made her oat and raisin cookies before but this recipe is slightly different and does include the addition of pecan nuts.

Triple chocolate cookies

SONY DSC

I’m a bit behind on blog posts at the moment. Life seems to have been a bit manic but I’m looking forward to the next week which is the lull before the storm of Christmas. It’s apt that I’m posting them today as it is National Cookie Day! I made these a couple of weeks ago as I kept on wanting to make some cookies and these were easy and I had all the ingredients in the cupboard and fridge. This is a Jo Wheatley recipe from her second Home Baking book.
